Matt is a PhD student in the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior. He earned a B.A. in Neuroscience from Reed College in Portland OR. Matt previously worked in the Paul Lab at Penn State College of Medicine investigating Chandelier cells. Matt’s current work in the Shrestha Lab includes mapping projections between the medial prefrontal cortex and the paraventricular nucleus of the thalamus, working on extinction and reinstatement in relation to the infralimbic cortex and the anterior paraventricular nucleus of the thalamus, and utilizing protein synthesis in projection neurons to determine their contributions to learning and memory. In his free time, Matt enjoys ceramics, reading, DND, and contra dancing.
